Bonaroo 2010 Announcement

Challenge: Create an interactive piece to announce the 2010 Bonnaroo line-up over the course of an entire day.

The idea was to create an all day event as the festival revealed over 80 bands and performers, one at a time.

We considered several approaches but kept returning to a time-based piece. Bonnaroo had some incredibly fun character drawings as part of their assets and we decided to employ these in a Cuckoo Clock and use the elements of the drawings to create animated sequences announcing each artist.

Love it or hate it, odds are that you watched this site all day, as it refreshed itself every six minutes with new animations, band announcements, and maddening polka beats. Over the course of the day, Bonnaroo and it’s artists became top trending topics on Google and Twitter and generated 100’s of articles.
